Institute of Engineering and Technology (IET), Lucknow Campus experience

Ideal college life is a balanced integration of academic advancement, personality development and social engagement. Career development is also key, with emphasis on gaining work experience, utilizing career services, and networking. IET Lucknow is no different in providing such an experience. IET is well equipped with all facilities to work towards an overall development of a student.

This is my first year experience at IET Lucknow.

Atmosphere

IET has a lush green campus spread over a hundred acres. Soon after entering the campus, I could make out certain spots where I knew I would spend time. Few lawns, the playground and the canteen were a few of them. Speaking of the canteen, it is an open one and not many items are available, but it is a good place to sit with friends and enjoy. Even the library is well equipped and I love to spend time there. The campus is quite lively and you would not want to leave the campus, once you make good friends.

Academics

I am currently pursuing Computer Science and Engineering. Classrooms are well equipped with comfortable benches and sufficient in number to accommodate the strength. Professors are highly educated. The number of assignments is quite large, but I don’t know if I am supposed to complain about it. The college is quite focused on academics.

Student organizations, clubs and sports

Student clubs are a major part of college life and I must say, the clubs here are quite active. Each club conducts their auditions during the second semester of fresher. All kinds of clubs are already established – technical, social, cultural, sports, while new clubs are always welcome. College is well equipped with most of the sports. Cricket and football ground is the highlight. Apart from that there is an open tennis court. There are also basketball, badminton and volleyball courts, but only in hostels. There is a sports complex which has been under construction since the past three years or so (as I speak of in 2024). Although we see no hope of the complex opening for students in the next few years, we are able to have fun with what the college has. Overall, each club is very active in showcasing the talent of the college.

Fests

I am aware that half the students always wait for this part, and I was no different. I witnessed three departmental fests in my first year and all of them were great. Fests here are obviously not like IITs, but good enough to vibe with your friends, give yourself a break by enjoying the fests, and participating in all kinds of events. All the clubs are actively involved in making each fest a success.

Coding

I would like to mention an interesting activity under the coding club of our institute where sophomores conduct classes to teach the fresher the basics of coding and guide them their way to be great tech enthusiasts. This guidance is really important which one realizes only after doing research about the roadmap of technical development. This is a highlighting factor which has also increased the placements in the college. I regularly attended the classes and continued my journey to be one of the best tech enthusiasts.

Placements

The college’s robust placement program is designed to help students secure internships and opportunities that align with their career goals and academic interests. The highest on-campus placement has been of 49LPA while there have been a few off-campus placements above 1Cr LPA. The college holds a strong alumni network who visit the college often and remain connected to the college.

Conclusion

Even though IET is not comparable to IITs and NITs, I do not regret my decision to take admission here. The college provides all the facilities that you need to live your college life to the fullest. I would advise to actively participate in all events and give each domain a shot. Exploring new domains might give you new hobbies and develop new interests. Make the best use of your college life.
