IET Lucknow Admission Experience

It was August when the JEE Advance results were announced. Unfortunately, I didn’t clear the cutoff for general.

So now the whole admission was based on the JEE Mains result.

JEE MAINS is the must criteria for applying to different counselling like JOSSA, CSAB, UPTAC, JAC DELHI, JAC CHANDIGARH etc. Then they also have some criteria on the board’s percentage.

I registered for JOSSA counselling. It consists of a total of 6 rounds and then everyone has to complete the choice filling, Choice Filling is a section where you have to fill in the choice where you want to take admission. It certainly does not confirm your admission but it simply means you want a seat in that branch of the college was so confused with which choices to fill. JOSSA has the criteria of having at least 75% in your respective intermediate boards. Then I read the whole brochure where they mentioned that we can change and alter the order of the choices. In the first 4 rounds, I was not allowed any college. But then in the fifth round, I was allowed ECE at NIT NAGALAND. But have to leave that seat because of the very long distance from home.

Now the option I was left with was CSAB counselling, which is a bit risky. You have to fill only those colleges and branches which you are sure to join because there is a deposit of 40k at the beginning of the counselling. Once you get into the college you have to opt for it, otherwise you’ll face a loss of 40k rupees.

So I was not allowed any college in that round as well.

Then I applied for UPTAC counselling. UPTAC counselling is for getting admission to the Engineering Colleges of UP. It consists govt. and private colleges. It consists of two 4 rounds and then the spot rounds. Firstly I registered myself and then filled in the choices and then waited for the results. Choice Filling is one of the most confusing segments during the whole process. I was allowed CSE(AI) at the Institute Of Engineering and Technology Lucknow in the first round of counselling and then CSE at IET Lucknow in the second round. So the college where I was going to study was allowed and confirmed that it was IET Lucknow we deposited the security money of 20k.

Now it was the time for Physical Reporting. We took the train and reached Lucknow one day before the date of physical reporting. The next morning we went to the college and at the very first glance at the campus, I felt the campus was nice. All the students were asked to report to the Auditorium where the registration process was going on. We went inside to the registration desk and got verified with documents. After the document verification fee payment is done. We were then asked to fill the hostel and Mess forms. After which I was allowed my room in the first-year hostel. I kept all my luggage in the room said goodbye to my parents and got ready to embark on a new journey.
