University of Southern California Campus Experience (Master’s in Pharmaceutical Sciences)

I recently graduated from the University of Southern California with a Master’s in Pharmaceutical Sciences, and I’m excited to share my experience on campus. My journey at USC began in 2022, and receiving my acceptance letter was a dream come true!

Located in the bustling city of Los Angeles, USC features a sprawling campus. The Master’s program lasted two years, divided into four semesters, and my first semester was a whirlwind. Adjusting to a new environment, making friends, exploring the campus, attending events and festivals, and tackling rigorous coursework was quite a challenge. To support myself, I worked part-time in the IT department of USC’s Business School, which helped cover my living expenses. The campus itself is a mix of serene study spots and beautiful places to relax, with libraries open 24/7 for studying.

One thing I like about the USC MS PSCI program is its thesis program. We were given the freedom to select both the lab and the research topic that aligned with our interests and career goals. Working closely with esteemed faculty members, we gained invaluable hands-on experience with advanced laboratory techniques and cutting-edge methods. Whether it was synthesizing novel compounds, conducting bioassays, or utilizing sophisticated analytical instruments, the thesis program provided a comprehensive platform to apply theoretical knowledge to real-world scientific inquiries.

The professors at USC are extremely knowledgeable and supportive. Building good relationships with them can be very beneficial, such as receiving referrals within their professional networks. USC also hosts numerous events throughout each semester, providing opportunities to get to know the campus, fellow students, and various cultures. Attending as many events as possible is a great way to make the most of your time at USC.

Finding a balance between academics, social life, and job hunting is crucial. While academics should be your priority, it’s also important to have fun and relax with friends. You are in control of your schedule, so make sure to enjoy both studying and leisure activities. Celebrate your time at USC and make the most of every moment!
