Installation of  Slack as a Snap Package

Microsoft distributes and maintains the Slack snap package. Snaps are self-contained software packages that include the binary as well as all of the application’s dependencies. Upgrades are simple and secure with Snap packaging.

Snaps, unlike ordinary deb packages, have a bigger disc footprint and take longer to start up.Snap packages can be installed using the Ubuntu Software program or the command line.

Open your terminal (Ctrl+Alt+T) and type the following command to install the Slack snap:

sudo snap install slack --classic

That is all there is to it. Slack has been installed on your Ubuntu desktop and is ready to use. The Slack snap package will be automatically updated in the background whenever a new version is released.

Launch the client from the menu once the installation is complete.

How to install Slack on Linux?

Slack is a popular collaboration application that pulls all of your communication together in one place. Slack conversations are arranged into channels. To keep information and interactions structured, you can build channels for your teams, projects, subjects, or any other reason. You can search through all of the content that has been posted in channels or in your messages. Slack also allows you to share papers, photos, videos, and other assets with your peers via audio or video calls.

Slack is a closed-source application that isn’t available in the Ubuntu repositories.

This guide will show you how to set up Slack on Ubuntu 20.04. The same steps apply to Ubuntu 18.04 as well as any other Debian-based distribution, such as Debian, Kubuntu, Linux Mint, and Elementary OS.
