Constitution Day of India
Constitution Day or ‘Samvidhan Divas’ has been celebrated on 26 November every year since 2015. Before 2015, 26 November was celebrated as Law Day in India. The Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment on 19 November 2015 notified the decision of the Government of India to celebrate the 26th day of November every year as Constitution Day. On 26th November 1949, the Constituent Assembly of India adopted the Constitution of India, which came into effect on 26th January 1950. The slogan on Constitution Day is – “The glory of justice and the majesty of laws are created not just by the Constitution, nor by the courts, nor by the officers of the law, nor by the lawyers but by the men and women who constitute our society who are the protectors of the law as they are themselves protected by the law”.

Constitution Day is celebrated on the 26th of November every year. On 26th November 1949, the Constituent Assembly of India adopted the Constitution of India. The Constitution came into force on 26 January 1950. Constitution Day is also known as the ‘Samvidhan Divas‘.
