The battle between Whitebeard and the Marines at the Marineford, which is also known as the Summit War of Marineford is one of the most important battles in the One Piece history. It changed everything fans knew about power scaling in the One Piece universe. And it completely altered the character progression of every major character in the show.
The Marine had Portgas D. Ace was arrested and imprisoned in the Marine headquarter at Marineford and Whitebeard along with some more pirates attacked the headquarters to free Portgas D. Ace. As expected Whitebeard did not die silently, but fought till his last breath and died proudly as he decimated all of the marines that attacked him. The battle ended with the death of many pirates, including Whitebeard and Portgas D. Ace.
