Spider-man 2 was a spin-off of the Spider-man: The Movie and a tie in game for Sam Raimi’s Spider-man 2. The story is loosely similar to that of the movie. It also includes cast and characters from the movie. The game was also the first time when Spidey used buildings and apartments to anchor his webs and swing around, making it feel more realistic.
The game was heavily influenced by GTA 3, with its open world theme and fun side quest like delivering pizzas to stopping crimes in the neighbourhood. Spider-man 2: The movie was the foundation that Insomniac Spider man games stood tall on. It set an unprecedented impact on the Spidey games, changing the game’s genre for the coming future and making way for Insomniac’s Marvel’s Spider-man, Marvel’s Spider-man: Miles Morales and Marvel’s Spider-man 2.
