IELTS TRF stands for Test Report Form. It’s the official document issued by the IELTS test centre that details your scores in all four sections of the test: Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking.

IELTS TRF is a vital document for anyone who has taken the IELTS test and needs to demonstrate their English language proficiency for academic or professional purposes.

Types of TRFs:

• Paper TRF: This is the traditional format, a physical document with your test results printed on it.
• Electronic TRF (eTRF): This is a digital version of the TRF, available for download from the official IELTS website. Many universities now accept eTRFs.

How to Obtain a TRF:

• You will usually receive one free copy of your TRF at the test centre when your results are released.
• You may be able to request additional copies (paper or electronic) for a fee.

• TRF stands for Test Report Form. It’s the official document detailing your IELTS scores in Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking, along with your overall band score.
• You usually receive one free copy upon receiving your results.
• You can request additional paper TRFs when you register for the test, or later for a fee. Only use paper TRFs if the university specifically requires them.

There are two main ways to check your IELTS score:

1.) Online: You can check your scores online on the IDP website. It’s important to note that these are provisional results and not official until you receive your Test Report Form (TRF) in the mail. To access your provisional scores, follow these steps:

• Enter your personal information, including your name, ID number, date of birth, and the verification captcha.
• Click on “Get Results.”

2.) Official Test Report Form (TRF): You will also receive your official TRF in the mail from your IELTS test centre. The turnaround time for receiving your TRF depends on whether you took the computer-delivered or paper-based test:

• Computer-delivered IELTS: You will receive your TRF within 3-5 days of your test date.
• Paper-based IELTS: You will receive your TRF 13 days after your test date.

You can’t calculate your exact IELTS Band score yourself because the raw scores from each section are converted to band scores by trained examiners. However, you can estimate your band score based on your performance in each section.

• Individual Scores: Each of the four IELTS sections (Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking) is graded on a scale of 0 to 9. You won’t receive a raw score, but examiners use the number of correct answers you provide to assign a band score. There are also half-band scores (e.g., 6.5, 7.5).

Note : When IELTS overall band score ends with ( .75 or .25 ) then it is rounded off to the nearest half or whole band . Therefore in the above example the IELTS Band Score will be 7.

Downloading your IELTS TRF (Test Report Form) is currently only available for computer-delivered IELTS tests at select test centres.

Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to download your e-TRF, assuming you meet the criteria:

• Log in to your IELTS profile: Head over to the official IDP IELTS website. You’ll need to log in using the email address and password you used when registering for the test.

• Access your test results: Once logged in, navigate to your test results section. This might be labelled differently depending on the specific website version you’re on, but it should be clear and easy to find.

• Look for the e-TRF download option: Within your test results, check for a download option specifically for the e-TRF. It might be a button labelled “Download e-TRF” or something similar.

• Download the PDF: Clicking the download option should initiate the download of your e-TRF as a PDF file. Save the PDF in a secure location on your device.

Notetake: If you don’t see a download option or took a paper-based test, you won’t be able to download your TRF electronically. In this case, you’ll receive your official paper TRF by mail within the timeframe mentioned previously (3-5 days for computer-based and 13 days for paper-based).

How long is TRF valid?

An IELTS Test Report Form (TRF) is valid for two 2 years. Can the test takers download a copy of the scores explained and advice for improvement? Test takers will be able to download the scores explained in PDF.

Does IELTS send TRF by post?
