Which is easier, PTE or TOEFL?

PTE is sometimes considered easier than TOEFL by some test-takers due to its fully computer-based format, automated scoring system, flexibility in answering, and generous time allocation for each section.

Choosing between the PTE (Pearson Test of English) and TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) depends largely on your strengths and preferences. The PTE is often considered easier, particularly for those who are more comfortable with computer-based testing. It uses automated scoring, which can be less subjective than human scoring used in TOEFL’s speaking section. Additionally, the PTE is known for providing results faster than TOEFL, typically within five business days.

On the other hand, TOEFL has a longer history and is widely recognized by universities, especially in the United States. The speaking section, which involves speaking into a microphone in a room full of test-takers, can be challenging for some. In contrast, the PTE’s speaking section is completed in a private booth, which might feel less stressful.

Ultimately, the choice depends on where you plan to apply, as some institutions might prefer one test over the other, and which test format you feel more comfortable with.
