My Journey to Bachelor of Technology (BTech) in Computer Science Engineering

Hello, everyone!

I’d like to share my experience during my journey through my Bachelor of Technology (BTech). Starting from the beginning, I originally aimed to take bioscience for my higher secondary studies(Plus Two) and planned to become a microbiologist. However, due to some unexpected circumstances, I ended up with a permanent admission in Computer Science for Plus Two instead. This shift in direction was initially unsettling because I had no prior knowledge or interest in computers, as it was an optional subject for me in tenth grade.

Despite my initial hesitance, I decided to embrace Computer Science. The classes began with teaching basic concepts such as HTML and C programming. Surprisingly, I found myself enjoying these topics and quickly fell in love with coding. This newfound passion led me to experiment with creating my static websites using online compilers on my mobile phone, as I didn’t have a laptop at the time. My enthusiasm for coding grew stronger, inspiring me to pursue a higher degree in Computer Science.

Initially, I considered pursuing a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Computer Science, but after my two exams, I learned about the broader scope of engineering, particularly in coding and technology. I researched extensively on engineering’s prospects and the various disciplines within the field, ultimately deciding on Computer Science Engineering as my career path. I found that this subject has more demand and is the course which helps to take any jobs in the field of Computer.

With only three months to prepare for my entrance exam(KEAM, engineering exam for pursuing BTECH in Kerala Only), I sought help from friends, seniors, and teachers. I am particularly grateful to my friend Gopika, who provided me with her brother’s entrance textbooks and notes. Due to financial constraints, I couldn’t attend a coaching centre, so I relied heavily on self-study, revising my Two textbooks(the most and foremost textbook to learn first) and practising questions from the materials I had. I also watched numerous YouTube videos to supplement my learning and clarify difficult concepts.

I spent almost 12 hours a day studying and revising. I divided my time equally between studying new material and reviewing what I had already learned, as well as practicing questions from the materials I had. This disciplined approach helped me absorb the material and build my confidence.

On the day of the KEAM Entrance Exam, I wasn’t entirely confident due to the limited preparation time. However, I followed advice from a YouTube video to avoid answering questions I wasn’t confident about, as they could lead to negative markings. As a result, I focused on the questions I knew well during the exam. This strategy helped me approach the exam with a clear mindset and avoid unnecessary stress.

After about two months, the results were released, and I was shocked to see my rank was around 4,000. This was beyond my expectations, and I was grateful for the outcome. I applied to the LBS Institute of Technology, Trivandrum, Kerala for Computer Science & Engineering and was accepted. I’m currently in my second year and continue to enjoy my studies and explore new areas within the field.

My advice to you is that if you truly aim for something and work hard for it, you can achieve your goals, regardless of the time you have left to prepare. It’s never too late to start your journey, so begin now. Avoid procrastination and seek help from your teachers, friends, and parents when you’re facing challenges. Remember, you’re never alone in your journey, and these people can provide the support and guidance you need to succeed. Trust that they can help you transform your situation from zero to hero.

In addition to seeking guidance from others, stay committed to your goals and be open to new opportunities. Stay curious and continue to learn, even beyond the classroom. Explore different aspects of your chosen field and consider joining clubs, workshops, or online communities to enhance your knowledge and skills. These experiences can help you build a strong network and provide valuable insights into potential career paths.

Lastly, remember to take care of your mental and physical well-being. Balancing your studies with self-care and relaxation is essential for maintaining your motivation and focus. Celebrate your achievements, no matter how small, and stay resilient in the face of challenges. With dedication and perseverance, you can reach your destination and thrive in your chosen career. Good luck!
