My Journey From Developer to UPSC Aspirant

The decision to prepare for Civil Services

I completed my schooling in the year 2016. I belong to a science background. During my school days, I had the dream of being an IAS officer. But didn’t know the pattern and the procedure. I was just aware of the qualifications needed to attempt the exam.
As everyone says we must have a Plan B with us if we are targeting a bigger goal that too when the competition is very high. I thought the same and decided to go for Engineering as my graduation and be a Software Developer as my backup plan before preparing for the IAS exam.

I enrolled in a private college only. Since belonging to a rural background I was not aware of the JEE exam, which I regret now. During my college years, I researched the Civil Services Exam and got to know about the process, the stages of the examination and the syllabus as well. I made a plan: After completing my graduation I will work for 1-2 years in the IT field to gain experience and develop my skills and along with my job I will prepare for the UPSC CSE exam as well.

From Developer to UPSC Aspirant

In my third year, I was placed in Tata Consultancy Services as an Assistant System Engineer. After the end of my graduation in 2020 I bought NCERT books to begin my preparation from the basic. That year was hit by the COVID pandemic, I got my joining letter from TCS and got work from home. My job and preparation were going parallelly but I used to get so exhausted after my job, I couldn’t gather enough energy to study.

So I made up my mind and resigned from my job after completing a year tenure. I was preparing for full-time but even couldn’t maintain consistency as I was studying at home only.
I joined another company and in the initial days all was going well but after 2-3 months my workload started increasing. After working for 8 months, I resigned and started my full-time aspirant journey.

I joined the Mains mentorship program and shifted to Ahmedabad in July 2023 so that I could stay alone and study peacefully. It’s going to be a year now, and my exam is on 16th June 2024. Just 25 days to go.

Revising whatever I have studied and hoping for good results.
