Miss India and Miss India Pageant
Miss India or Femina Miss India is an Indian beauty event organized every year to select one of the best young girls from all over India for the title of Miss India. After that, the Miss India Winner is eligible to participate in the Miss World content, which is one of the four major International beauty events.
Femina is a women’s magazine published by the Times Group and it also organizes the Miss Diva Pageant, whose winner goes on to compete for Miss Universe. Nandini Gupta from Rajasthan is the current holder of the Miss India title who was crowned by the last year title-holder Sini Sadanand Shetty on 15th April 2023. The event took place at Imphal, Manipur.

In 1964, the first Femina Miss India pageant took place where Meher Castelino Mistri from Maharashtra emerged as the first Femina Miss India. She was selected to represent India at Miss Universe 1964 which was in the United States and at Miss Nations 1964 in Spain.
After that, for over six decades, Miss India, a transformative platform, has impacted the lives of numerous talented young women. Organized by Femina, a women’s magazine owned by Bennett, Coleman & Co. Ltd., the pageant underwent a significant evolution. Initially, from 1964 to 1975, the Miss India winner represented Miss Universe, with the runner-up delegated to Miss Asia Pacific.
In 1976, Miss India secured the Miss World Franchise, leading to the selection of winners for Miss Universe, Miss World, and Miss Asia Pacific in the following years.

They have to go through an online selection process where they have to send a video of their ramp walk and they are judged by the judging panel on four major parameters that are appearance, personality, talent, and interview.

After the audition round, Femina’s social media account reveals all the 29 state representatives that are chosen with one collective representative for all the Union Territories.
