Why did I participate?

I always look for opportunities where innovation meets reality. This hackathon not only provided students with the experience of competing with different teams, but also I recently came to know that one of the teams selected got a grant from an incubation cell, and they have registered their startup. Many well-known industrialists were invited as chief guests to help students with their Entrepreneurship journey.

First Day of Ideathon:

The ideathon started with a candle-lighting ceremony followed by a very informative session by Ramana Telidevara Sir, founder of Codetantra.com. They explained the fundamentals of any startup and the responsibilities of founders. After the speech we were given food coupons and we headed to have lunch. Then all the teams were allocated tables and power sources to start working on their idea, pitch, and presentation. We divided the work in such a way that first all four of us will give our solution ideas, and then we will start with our business plan. By the time the first judging round started, we all were very anxious for our turn. We explained our idea very clearly to the judges and answered all their questions. Fortunately, our idea was selected and we were qualified for the next round. We had our dinner at about 8:30 p.m. and again went to our desks to work on the business trajectory. Since it was a two-day ideathon, we worked all night to make the best business out of our idea.

Second Day of Ideathon:

The second day started with the morning breakfast at about 9:00 a.m. Then we had two amazing sessions by a venture capitalist and founder of collegedekho.com. After the sessions, we had our second judging round. We explained to the judges about the business plan and scope of the startup. Before the results, We had a very enthusiastic session with none other than Ashneer Grover sir, founder at Bharatpe, PostPe, and Grofeers. It was a very fun yet informative session. Students were also given opportunities to ask their doubts Ashneer sir. After the session, the results were announced. Unfortunately, we didn’t qualify for the second round. But we were not sad because we were not selected, instead, we were very happy because we had such a great time and we have learnt so many good things about a startup.

I would suggest all the students participate in such events because it will help them to explore new opportunities.

Galgotias University Fest Experience (Launchpad Ideathon)

When I was in my second semester, I along with my three classmates attended our first ideation organized by E-cell, Galgotias University. It was a two-day hackathon that aimed to help students with their entrepreneurship journey. Students. Different domains were given such as – health, finance, environment, etc. Students have to identify a problem from the given domains, and they have to share an idea of how they can not only solve the problem but also make a successful business out of it. My idea was to make a website to detect fraud in online transactions. Since it was my first event at Galgotias University, I would like to share my experience.
