What is Cerebellum?
Cerebellum is defined as a second largest part of the brain. Cerebellum is located below the posterior part of the cerebrum. Cerebellum consists of more than 50% of neurons that are present in brain. The upper part of cerebellum consists of grey matter and the central part consists of white matter. Cerebellum is also known as little brain. Cerebellum consists of two hemisphere and has a wrinkled surface like cerebrum.
Cerebrum is responsible for various important functions of the body such as coordination and regulation of posture, movement, balance etc. Cerebellum has two cavities that are known as lateral ventricles. It is present at the back of the brain. The cerebellum hemisphere has posterior, anterior and flocculonodular lobe.
Difference Between Cerebellum And Cerebrum
Cerebellum and Cerebrum are both parts of the brain. The anatomy of brain consists of various parts. The cerebellum and cerebrum both are the parts of brain that control various actions of the body. 80% of the human brain is comprised of cerebrum whereas 11% of brain is composed of cerebellum.
