Things that I learned

I had a pretty good experience here, and I have grown as a person and as a developer too. My advice to you would be to explore various fields at the start of your degree and, by the end of your second year, pick a technology of your interest and master it.

How did I choose a college and stream?

So after completing my 12th, it was quite a mess of what college I should choose and which stream I should choose, as I wasn’t able to perform very well in the JEE exam. As any curious kid, I had a good curiosity about computers, and watching movies fascinated me about coding and stuff. So I decided to do BE-CSE at Chitkara University, and that’s how I landed up here....

College Description

Chitkara University is a private university in Chandigarh, where we get the environment to explore. All the teachers and professors here motivate and support me to explore things quite a bit. It has trainers who have actually worked for a company, so they can guide us in exactly the way a company demands you to be. My journey here is quite good, and I enjoyed being a student at this university. The hostels are pretty neat and clean, the food is acceptable, the campus is an eco-friendly campus, and many places are decorated with recycled products, which is an amazing concept that looks unique and stunning as well....

My Journey

While taking admission at this college, I had no prior experience in coding, but after taking admission, I started learning C/C++. Here they teach Python in the 1st semester, C in the 2nd, C++ in the 3rd, and start DSA in the 4th semester. Web development is taught alongside the 2nd semester, which is good in my opinion as it gives enough time to explore the development field and to get a good grip on it as well. In my opinion, one should pick a language in the 2nd semester and start doing DSA in the 2nd semester itself. One can take a course on Geeks for Geeks or on any other platform. Consistency is the key here. If you are consistent enough, you can get a good hand in DSA. Currently, I am giving my final exams for the 4th semester, and till now, I am satisfied with the college experience I had, and I surely recommend you join here....

Environment

The environment I got is very good. I am in a competitive environment, which keeps me motivated to do better and improve myself. I am a hosteller, and by luck, my hostel is peaceful enough to study and mischievous enough to remember. Chitkara also has many libraries where you can study, and all kinds of books are available there. Even if you want to learn French, you can get a book from the library. The teachers here are pretty supportive; they have helped me with any query I have asked and guided me on what to do next....

Events

The college has organized various festivals as of now, but I am not able to give you a count. College ensures to keep you stressed enough to study and entertained enough so that you don’t get bored. Many hackathons keep getting organized from time to time, which helped me keep track of my competitive skills and allowed me to network with fellow developers....

Placements

Chitkara has a dedicated placement cell, which offers good placement to students. Companies like Apple and Infosys come for campus recruitment and offer a good package. Chitkara also has a special batch called UCA (University Coding Academy), which is specifically designed to enhance one’s coding skills and get a higher placement....
