1. Harman International Industries

Harman International Industries deals with designing, manufacturing and selling the audio equipment sets and electronics systems. The business was Samsung’s pride jewel and later it was bought by Samsung in 2016 in consideration with $8 billion. The fact that its products are marketed under the JBL, Infinity, Harman/Kardon and Mark Lewis product lines is the case in point.

2. AdGear

In June 2016,Samsung came up with AdGear, a leading digital advertising technology company that is a provider of software and services for different kinds of channels which include TV, Print,Dialog and Digital. AdGear has a device that is called AdGear Trader, which is a digital signal processor that controls data and for advertising as well. Joyent, founded in 2005, has two main products: container service as a service (CaaS) where it built the product called Triton and Node.js services that became the dominating template for web, mobile and IoT applications.

4. LoopPay

Apple Pay’s competitor, Samsung took the acquisition of LoopPay to be an equal factor. Samsung has partnered with this Money20/20-based start-up, which creates the platform for Samsung Pay, its mobile payment system. The LoopPay come up with an unique payment system that shoppers can tap to the hardware to pay for their purchase in the store with a mobile payment receiving system. The company has imbibed this technology to its mobile devices which Samsung makes.

Before coming under the acquisition, LoopPay had already attracted $10 million in VC financing. Moreover, it reached a $250 million deal with Samsung.

5. Nexus

Another example of Samsung’s determination to expand into other industries is its acquisition of Nexus, a healthcare-oriented equipment maker located in the Unites States. No figure of purchase was revealed but the company ventured into the health care industry.

Such purchase is a sign of confidence in the acquisitive ability of Samsung from Korea. Nexus belongs to the cardiac-testing category and was brought in 2011.

6. Novaled

Samsung invested on $347 million in 2013 to buy Novaled. The acquisition of Novaled was a game-changer for Samsung, as this company focuses on the research and development of organic materials and techniques exclusive to the next-generation displays with high performance OLED displays.

Novaled’s technologies are put in use by all displays such as televisions and mobile devices. The company which is in Germany.

7. Proximal Data

California acquired Proximal Data that was from Samsung in 2014. It produces server-side caching application. The main aim of this task, it ensures that continuously used information is kept in memory efficiently. The startup had raised $8 mln of financing prior to the transaction.

8. Simpress

In the first quarter of 2015, Samsung bought Simpress, inventor of printing technology solutions at just $100 million. The target of the deal was to reinforce the business-to-business unit with the aim of strengthening the market position and to ensure the profitability. Simpress, a Brazil-based company, will provide Samsung with a good basis to further penetrate the Latin American market and progress in the business process outsourcing field.

9. SmartThings

In the summer of 2014, Samsung settled to become one of the best hubs for the smart home kits through hardware and software integration. Since then, for $200 million it was SmartThings, a leading firm in technology connection. The company has come up with smart kits to work together with the SmartThings Hub, and with sufficient synchronization, the product can control hundreds of devices.

10. Prismview
