Roles and Responsibilities of a Pharmacist in India
A pharmacist in India has many critical roles. Some key duties are:
- Fill drug orders for patients in hospitals. Count pills, measure liquids, or make compounds if needed. Give instructions on how to take them.
- Work in chemist shops. Sell over-the-counter medicines and give advice on what medicine is best for each illness.
- Check that prescriptions written by doctors are correct. Fix any errors or problems. Call doctors with questions.
- Know all about different drugs and what they treat. Remember side effects and interactions with other medicines.
- Keep detailed records of all medicines given out and sold. Track who got which drug and when.
- Follow rules on safely storing drugs. Some need room temperature, others the fridge. Keep poisons locked up.
- Make sure pharmacies and hospitals follow laws on drugs. Report issues if found. Stay up to date on new rules.
- In companies, test drug products during R&D. Later, check quality control and production processes.
Pharmacists must be meticulous, and ethical and pay great attention to detail in their work. Lives depend on them doing their duties properly.
