India’s part of commitment to “UNFCCC” objectives
PM Modi restated India’s commitment to the process and objectives framed by the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). India’s future goal is to reduce emissions by 45% until 2030. And decided to increase the share of non-fossil fuel to 50%. He said that we will keep going ahead towards our goal of net zero by 2070.
On the other hand, UAE President Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, whose country is hosting the COP 28 climate summit, announced the contribution of a $30 billion climate fund for global climate solutions that aims to attract $250 billion of investment by the end of the decade.
PM Modi Proposes to host COP 33 Summit in 2028 in India
India PM Narendra Modi attended the COP 28 (Conference of Parties) hosted by the UAE from November 30 to December 12, 2023. Expecting over 70,000 delegates, the conference’s main aim is to accelerate the shift to renewable energy and reduce emissions.
PM Modi made a significant announcement given climate action commitments to meet global protection, so he proposed to host the 2028 climate change conference the 33rd edition in India. He said this is part of reducing carbon dioxide emissions in the world. He also said that developing countries must get appropriate access to the remaining global carbon budget.
