IBPS PO Cut Off Types
There are several types of IBPS PO cutoffs. These include:
Preliminary Exam Cutoff: The preliminary exam is the first stage of the IBPS PO selection process. After conducting the preliminary exam, IBPS releases the cutoff marks for each section (Quantitative Aptitude, Reasoning Ability, and English Language) and an overall cutoff. Candidates must secure equal to or more than the sectional and overall cutoff marks to qualify for the mains exam.
Mains Exam Cutoff: The mains exam is the second stage of the IBPS PO selection process. After conducting the mains exam, IBPS releases the cutoff marks for each section (Data Analysis and Interpretation, Reasoning and Computer Aptitude, General/Economy/Banking Awareness, English Language, and English Descriptive) and an overall cutoff. Candidates who meet or exceed these cutoff marks become eligible for the interview round.
Final/Provisional Allotment Cutoff: After completing the interview process, IBPS releases the final or provisional allotment cutoff. This cutoff is calculated based on the combined marks of the mains exam and interview out of 100. The weightage given to the mains exam and interview is typically in the ratio of 80:20. Candidates are allotted to the participating banks based on this cutoff and their preferences.
Sectional Cutoff: This type of cutoff refers to the minimum marks required to qualify in each section of the exam (e.g., Quantitative Aptitude, Reasoning, English, etc.). Candidates must score equal to or above the sectional cutoff in all sections to progress to the next stage.
Overall Cutoff: The overall cutoff is the total minimum score required to qualify for the next stage or the final selection. It is the combined score of all sections in the exam (both mains and prelims).
Reserve List Cutoff: After the final allotment is completed, IBPS may release a reserve list with candidates who meet the reserve list cutoff. These candidates are kept as backups in case selected candidates do not join or fulfil the eligibility criteria.
Each of these cutoffs is crucial in determining the candidates’ progression through the various stages of the IBPS PO recruitment process and eventually their selection for the probationary officer position in participating banks.
