How to Activate Automatic Navigation with Gemini
Here’s how it works:
Step 1: Activate Gemini
There are two ways to activate Gemini. You can either use the dedicated hotword (“Hey Gemini”) or long-press the home button on your Android device (assuming it’s configured for Gemini).
Step 2: Ask for Directions
Clearly state your destination using natural language. Examples include “Navigate to [location name]” or “Take me to [address].”
Step 3: Automatic Navigation Start
Gemini will confirm your destination and then automatically launch Google Maps navigation.
Automatic navigation with Gemini is already enabled by default in the latest update (released March 25th, 2024). This means you don’t need to perform any specific actions to activate it.
Gemini Can Now Automatically Start Google Maps Navigation
Getting lost while following phone directions is a thing of the past! Google’s AI assistant, Gemini, has received a significant upgrade that simplifies navigation. Previously, asking Gemini for directions would display the route but require an additional tap to launch navigation in Google Maps. Thankfully, those days are gone. Gemini can now automatically start navigation with Google Maps, making getting around a breeze.
In short:
- Goodbye extra taps: No more needing to confirm navigation after asking Gemini for directions.
- Seamless experience: Gemini integrates with Google Maps for a hands-free navigation experience.
- Enhanced AI Assistant: This update highlights Gemini’s growing capabilities as a Google Assistant alternative.
