Hostel experiences

Let me start off with my hostel and its culture. I stayed in a 3-member shared hostel room that was very crowded. After two weeks, I moved to another room shared with 2 people. My hostel’s food menu is really good and it has a lot of nutritious food items in it. Each hostel in IITD has a house secretary, and a representative for every club(like music club, dance club, sports, indoor games, competitive programming club, development club). Every hostel has a music room, gym room, dance room, and a ground or lawn which may have a basketball court or badminton which varies from hostel to hostel. And every hostel has some sports equipment which the hostel residents can use. Hostel-specific functions include house day and STIC dinner during which the mess makes special dinner and some events are hosted.

My first-year campus experience at IIT Delhi

I am a student at IIT Delhi, in the computer science department, having finished my first year of B Tech. I wish to recount my campus experiences in this post. I arrived at the college three days before the commencement of classes for admissions and orientation.

Academics:

Going into academics, in the first year all the students irrespective of the branch have the same set of courses which involves almost all departmental courses. The professors here are really good and their notes mostly suffice for preparation, most professors are friendly to approach personally to discuss about projects too. Classes constitute on average 5 hours per day. We got to do 2 projects in the first year one in mechanical and another in electrical. The evaluation scheme varies depending on the course and its coordinator. There are mid-sem and end-sem exams along with quizes(2 to 3 ) before the exams. Getting average mostly caters to a grade of 7 for most of the courses. The grading system is relative in most of the courses while few are graded....
