CUET 2024: Subjects and Sections

The subjects are arranged into three sections according to the CUET exam pattern:

1. IA and IB include Language

IA includes Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Gujarati, Odia, Bengali, Assamese, Punjabi, English, Hindi, and Urdu.

IB include French, Spanish, German, Nepali, Persian, Italian, Arabic, Sindhi, Kashmiri, Konkani, Bodo, Dogri, Maithili, Manipuri, Santhali, Tibetan, Japanese, Russian, and Chinese.

2. Section II – Domain Topic

The topics include Accountancy/ Book Keeping, Biology/ Biological Studies/ Biotechnology/Biochemistry, Business Studies, Chemistry, Computer Science/ Informatics Practices, Economics/ Business Economics, Engineering Graphics, Entrepreneurship, Geography/Geology, History, Home Science, Knowledge Tradition and Practices of India, Legal Studies, Environmental Science, Mathematics, Physical Education/ NCC /Yoga, Physics, Political Science, Psychology, Sociology, Teaching Aptitude, Agriculture, Mass Media/ Mass Communication, Anthropology, Fine Arts/ Visual Arts (Sculpture/ Painting)/Commercial Arts, Performing Arts – (i) Dance (Kathak/ Bharatnatyam/ Oddisi/ Kathakali/Kuchipudi/ Manipuri (ii) Drama- Theatre (iii) Music General (Hindustani/ Carnatic/ Rabindra Sangeet/ Percussion/ Non-Percussion), Sanskrit [For all Shastri (Shastri 3 years/ 4 years Honours)

3. Section III- General Exam

For each subject, the candidates will be given 45 minutes. However, the duration of the exam will be 60 minutes in disciplines such as Accountancy, Economics, Physics, Computer Science / Informatics Practices, Chemistry and Mathematics / Applied Mathematics, and General Tests. Candidates can select up to ten subjects when completing the CUET application form. They must, however, check the eligibility criteria of the university and program to which they seek to apply.

The questions from the General Exam section, which is optional and mandatory for certain domain subjects, are given below:

1. General Knowledge, Current Affairs
2. General Mental Ability, Numerical Ability
3. Reasoning (simple application of basic mathematical concepts, Quantitative Arithmetic, Algebra, Geometry, Mensuration and Statistics)
4. Logical and Analytical Reasoning

CUET is an entrance examination conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) in India for undergraduate courses in central universities. Its primary objective is to streamline the admission process for various central universities in India and replace multiple university-specific entrance exams. CUET stands for “Common University Entrance Test. The CUET UG examination takes place in over 300 cities throughout India, including a total of 13 mediums, namely English, Hindi, Bengali, Assamese, Odia, Punjabi, Marathi, Gujarati, Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Urdu. The examination is conducted on an online platform. The duration of the CUET examination is dependent upon the selection of subjects made by the candidate.
