Construction of Longest Bridge

The world’s longest Bridge runs roughly parallel to the Yangtze River, about 8 to 80 km (5 to 50 mi) south of the river. It passes through Danyang, Changzhou, Wuxi, and Suzhou, and ends in Kunshan which is the Northern edge. There is a 9-kilometre long (5.6 miles) section over open water across Yangcheng Lake in Suzhou.

The construction of the Bridge was started in the year 2010 and has employed 10,000 people for nearly four years. The opening of the usage of the bridge commenced in the year 2011. Construction was commenced by the CRBC (China Road and Bridge Corporation.

The bridge was developed and constructed by the Chinese government-funded corporation, China Communications Construction Corporation, which was formerly a division of the Ministry of Communications of China’s Foreign Aid Office. Major civil engineering projects in China, including ports, tunnels, bridges, railroads, and highways, are led by this company. The cost was about $8.5 billion.
