Character design is an essential part of many creative industries, especially in animation, video games & storytelling. It refers to the process of creating & understanding the look, understanding of the look & characteristics of characters both fictional & non-fiction in a story & visual presentation. The primary goal of character design is to bring life to characters through the visual representation of their physical characteristics, unique characteristics, body language & overall attitude. In many cases, designers work directly with writers, and creators to make sure the characters match the story theme setting & target audience.
