Faculty

10th Grade:

Foundation Batch:

I don’t have much idea about the faculty in other or advanced batches. Here’s a breakdown of my experience:

  • Maths Faculty:
    • The teacher was good, but strict with test corrections and explanations during lectures.
    • Allen Booklets: Satisfactory and helpful, with questions of a higher difficulty level than school, including some extra syllabus.
    • Result: Helped me score 99/100 in the Boards, though I also took extra tuition from another teacher for Maths.
  • Science Faculty:
    • Overall decent, though I wasn’t very strong in Science. Initially struggled but managed to rank 2nd-3rd in a few tests of Physics, Chemistry, and Biology later on. The teachers were strict with corrections.
    • Allen Booklets: Intermediate level, with questions of higher difficulty than school and a lot of extra syllabus.
  • Social Science Faculty:
    • The teacher was good but strict during lectures and paper corrections.
    • Allen Booklets: Good, with questions of higher difficulty than school and a lot of extra syllabus.
  • English Faculty:
    • The teacher was good, and English was my favorite subject, so I didn’t face many issues. However, the faculty were much stricter than my school teachers.
    • Allen Booklets: Good, with questions of higher difficulty than school and no significant extra syllabus.
  • Books Followed: NCERT
  • Board: CBSE
  • Test Pattern:
    • One test used to cover two subjects: Maths and Social Science.
    • Another test covered Science and English.
    • These tests formed a regular cycle.
  • Result: I scored 90% in the boards, which was slightly less than expected, by at least 1-2 percentage points.

11th-12th Grade:

I took JEE coaching in the JEE Advanced batch for two years. Initially, fees were paid for offline coaching, but it later switched to online due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the resulting lockdown.

  • Physics Faculty:
    • Good, though changed twice or thrice. The topics were well-explained.
    • 11th grade was challenging due to the complexity of topics and the pandemic. 12th grade was mostly smooth except for the beginning. The online mode made many students lazy and casual, leading to issues like turning off screens or sleeping during lectures.
  • Chemistry Faculty:
    • Quite nice but strict. Made us memorize the material. However, due to the online format, many students skipped lectures until late.
  • Maths Faculty:
    • Strict, but Maths was my favorite subject, and I performed decently. There was a faculty change during the course.
    • The faculty changes were due to a change of centers.
  • Test Pattern:
    • JEE Mains/JEE Advanced pattern, computer-based online tests every 3 weeks covering Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. My performances were mostly below average, but I occasionally topped in a few subjects/tests. I even topped in all of Mumbai in a JEE-Advanced test once.
    • At the end, a few MHT-CET mock tests were conducted, and I did well, usually ranking in the top 20-25% of all Allen Mumbai centers combined, and topped in my batch.
  • Result/Outcome:
    • JEE: I couldn’t clear even the JEE Mains cutoff (sadly).
    • MHT-CET: I scored 96.5 percentile, with approximately 98 percentile in Maths.
