JEE Advanced Exam Experience

I was part of the batch whose exams were delayed due to the COVID-19 lockdowns. After the JEE Mains January session, where I achieved a 99.12 percentile and qualified for the JEE Advanced exam, the second session of JEE Mains was postponed. The transition from offline to online coaching was challenging, impacting my preparation initially.

Once the second session of JEE Mains was completed, I filled out the application for JEE Advanced. The admit card arrived, and this time, the exam center was quite far from my home. I reached the center an hour early, prepared for the long day ahead, as JEE Advanced consists of two papers: one in the morning and one in the afternoon. To prepare, I had been taking mock tests and practicing sitting for six hours straight.

After completing the formalities at the examination hall, including signing in and receiving rough sheets and a pen, the exam began. The JEE Advanced was also a Computer Based Test (CBT), and I was familiar with this format.

I started with Mathematics, following the same pattern as in the Mains exam. However, I found the questions more difficult, so after attempting a few, I shifted to Chemistry. This section had questions that ranged from easy to moderate, which were more manageable. Physics was, as usual, tough, but I managed to answer the questions to the best of my ability. Overall, the paper was difficult, as expected from JEE Advanced. In both papers, Chemistry was the most approachable, with questions ranging from easy to moderate.

When the results were announced, I secured a rank of 10,219. This was a significant achievement for me, especially considering the challenges posed by the pandemic. My faculty members were very happy with my performance. Although they had higher expectations, they were still pleased with my results.

Despite the difficulties and disruptions caused by COVID-19, my journey through the JEE Mains and Advanced exams was a valuable and rewarding experience.
