IIT-JEE Exam Experience

It all began when I had just completed my 10th board exams and decided to pursue arts in preparation for the UPSC exams in the future. I had everything set up, bought the necessary books, and was ready to dive in. Then one day, my uncle showed up out of the blue and questioned my choice of opting for arts, suggesting that I had the potential to clear the IIT exam instead. I stood firm in my decision to prepare for UPSC. However, he persuaded me to pursue JEE and advised that I could tackle UPSC after completing my BTech. Reluctantly, my father agreed to send me to Kota for JEE preparation, but due to financial constraints, this plan seemed futile.

ENVIRONMENT

That’s when I learned about Coaching in Kota, which offered significant scholarships. I seized the opportunity and enrolled with minimal fees. And thus began my journey towards JEE. Arriving in Kota, also known as the “Education Hub,” I found accommodation in a hostel for Rs. 5000 and arranged for meals at Rs. 3000. As my parents bid me farewell, determined to crack the JEE, I scribbled motivational messages on the walls of my room. Despite initial apprehensions, I found comfort in the pleasant atmosphere of the PG, relished good quality food, and bonded with the friendly warden and a few fellow students.

COACHING EXPERIENCES

Initially, attending offline classes felt mundane, and I struggled to comprehend the material. Being part of a late batch meant enduring a heavier workload, with 5 to 6 classes a day, exacerbating my despondency as my marks failed to reflect my efforts. However, a parent-teacher meeting organized by the coaching institute proved to be a turning point. I confided in a supportive teacher who instilled in me the belief that I could succeed in JEE with the right approach to studying. From that day forward, I followed his guidance.

ABOUT SENIOR

I mustn’t forget to mention my senior, who resided across from my room. He provided invaluable support and guidance, making my stay in Kota more enjoyable. As my 11th grade came to a close, another lockdown ensued, allowing me to return home briefly. Although classes continued remotely, my progress faltered upon returning home, only to regain momentum upon resuming classes in Kota.

CHANCE TO RISE UP

The summer vacation provided a reprieve, allowing me to recharge before diving into 12th grade. With renewed vigor, I easily grasped concepts and climbed to the second-topmost batch. Everything seemed to be falling into place until a pivotal moment altered my trajectory. A friend suggested I consider joining the army and attempting the NDA exam. Tempted by the idea, I devoted a month and a half to NDA preparation, neglecting my coaching classes. Despite my efforts, I wasn’t selected, leaving me disheartened and facing a mountain of backlogs with only a few months left until the JEE exam.

COUNTDOWN STARTS

With the clock ticking, I sought motivation from my teachers and embarked on a rigorous study regimen. However, just as the JEE mains approached, I was called back to school for practical exams, leaving me with a mere 10 days to prepare. Despite feeling overwhelmed, I managed to pull through and achieved a 97 percentile on the exam. While uncertain about my college prospects, I pushed forward, passing my board exams with a 90 percent.

RESULT TIME

My second attempt at JEE mains yielded less favorable results, and despite health challenges, I persisted, albeit with diminishing hopes. Ultimately, I cleared JEE Advanced but fell short of securing a desired college and branch. Thus, I settled for a decent college closer to home, pursuing ECE at IIIT. And so, my journey continues, navigating the twists and turns of academic pursuit and personal growth.
