Google Girl Hackathon Experience 2024

Have you ever wondered what it’s like to join forces with brilliant minds from around the world to tackle global issues using cutting-edge technology? This was the amazing opportunity I had to be a Google’s Girl Hackathon 2024.

Hi, I am a 2nd Year Student of CSE branch of Ajay Kumar Garg Engineering College.

So You might be wondering ,What is Google’s Girl Hackathon?

every year, GOOGLE brings such a great opportunity for women to showcase their skills and interests in coding and evolving Technologies.

First Round : At first round , the resume of the applicants plays a crucial role for their selection. Resumes are like a ticket to your Dream Company.

there are several points an applicant should keep in mind when they are submitting their resume.

1.)It Should not have any grammatical error.

2.)While Creating your Resume , always check the ATS Score of your resume. Check whether your Resume is ATS Friendly or Not. Always a good ATS Scored Resume is proceeded.

So Although I have Cleared the Resume Screening Round. So my Application has been Selected for Google Girl Hackathon 2024. On 9th of April ,I have received the mail that my application has been selected.

there are 2 events has been Conducted.

Inaugural Session :On 13th of April the inaugural session has been conducted in which all the participants are welcomed & Teach the pattern of this hackathon.

Learning Cohort Session : The learning Cohort Session has been Conducted on Saturday 14th April 2024.

in which we were taught –

1.)The importance of good communication skills.

2.) Data Structures and Algorithm Learning.

3.) and various AI tools of google that we can integrate in our project to make it more productive.

Second Round: Second Round was of DSA round in which we are given two DSA questions ,which we were supposed to solve in the time-span of 60 min. It has been conducted online on Hackerearth.

I was given two questions of dynamic programming ,Unfortunately I could not understand the pattern of those questions and entangled in the trick of the questions . which Became a hinderance to my selection for Next Round. Unfortunately, I could not meet the requirements to advance to the further rounds.. I was Rejected.

While I didn’t advance past the coding round this time, my experience at the Google Girl Hackathon 2024 was invaluable. It served as a learning step, highlighting areas where I need to improve my data structures and algorithms skills. Rather than dwell on not making it further, I’m choosing to view this as motivation to work harder on the concepts I struggled with.

This hackathon exposed me to my technical weaknesses, but more importantly, it revealed my determination to overcome them. I’m grateful to Google for providing a supportive platform that pushed me to identify my shortcomings. Moving forward, I will dedicate more time to practicing coding problems and studying computing fundamentals.

To any girls and women who applied but didn’t advance – don’t be disheartened. Use this as fuel to enhance your abilities. Opportunities like the Google Girl Hackathon are not just about winning, but about cultivating a growth mindset. Every hurdle we face is a chance to improve ourselves. I have no doubt that with consistent effort, we’ll all be ready to make our mark at the next coding competition that comes our way. This is just the start of our journey towards becoming unstoppable technologists.
