Gap Inc Interview Experience for Software Engineer On-Campus

Requirements: C++/Java (Any Programming Language), DSA, Operating System, DBMS.

Eligibility Criteria: B.E/B.Tech (CSE/IT/ECE)

CGPA: 7.00 and above (throughout career 70% including 10th & 12th)

I appeared in the on-campus placement of Gap Inc. in October 2021 at the Birla Institute Of Technology, Mesra.

It was a total of 5 rounds of process:

Round 1 [Resume Shortlisting]

The standard resume shortlisting round is based on skills, achievements, and CGPA. They tried to shortlist those candidates who are hands-on in web development.

Round 2 [Online Coding Test]

This round was conducted on the HackerRank platform and consisted of two questions on Data Structures and Algorithms. The first question was a basic array problem, and the second was a medium-level sliding window problem. I was able to solve both questions in 40 minutes. The overall time for the exam was 75 minutes. I was selected for the next round. A total of 10 candidates were selected for the next round.

Round 3 [Technical Interview-1]

It started with a project discussion, and we discussed my project for around five minutes. After that, he gave me a medium data structure question to find the longest substring with k unique characters. He then asked me 5-6 basic questions about operating systems and DBMS. I was able to solve the coding question and answer almost every question about operating systems and DBMS. I got selected for the next round. A total of five people were selected for the next round.

Round 4 [Technical Interview-2]

It started with a basic introduction and project discussion. This round mainly focused on data structures. He asked one medium-level question about graphs and one hard-level question about tries. I was selected for the next round. A total of three candidates were selected for the final HR round.

Round 5 [HR Interview]

I don’t understand why this round is happening. I guess they have only one seat, and they selected only one candidate who has an idea about web development. They ask basic questions like why you want to join and where you see yourself in five years.
