Chattisgarh Pre-Engineering Test (CGPET) Exam Experience

It was a very nice experience for me to qualify Chattisgarh Pre-Engineering Test and to come under the top 300 in the state. It is a very simple or basic level examination as compared to JEE Mains to gain admission into Engineering Colleges in Chhattisgarh. I have appeared for it in 2021 in Offline mode. I got an Overall CG Rank of 284 and hence got admission to one of the state’s top colleges which is Government Engineering College, Raipur. There I got faculties from various national institutes like IIIT Bhubaneshwar, IIIT Allahabad, etc.

Format of the Examination

It generally comprises 3 sections namely:-

• Physics:- 50 questions (1 Mark each)
• Chemistry:- 50 questions (1 Mark each)
• Mathematics:- 50 questions (1 Mark each)

No negative marking is there.

Preparation Strategy

A person who is studying for JEE Mains can easily excel in CGPET. But the person must have in-depth knowledge of the subject and the concepts should be very clear. Also, due to no negative marking, guesswork can work too (in extreme cases). The level of questions is, on average, medium. Some questions of Mathematics may seem hard but if you like solving Mathematical problems you going to enjoy solving them. Most questions of Physics and Chemistry are direct and theory-based so school syllabus knowledge may be very helpful there. Also, basic concepts should be clear.

Some Tips

1. Be calm while solving the paper. If you have studied nicely, you will excel and achieve great rank.
2. Solve the paper by enjoying the questions as fun. Even I have solved them like this. I have not studied any extra just my CBSE School Syllabus for Board Examinations and solved some questions of JEE Mains and Advance.
3. Don’t bother about rank. Just try to apply your whole knowledge. Rank will be automatically awarded accordingly.
4. Don’t make silly mistakes.
5. Don’t leave any questions non-attempted as no marks will be deducted for wrong answers.
6. Try to solve all the theory-based questions first even in Mathematics, if any. It will give you confidence that a no. of questions get answered.
7. Don’t take stress for marks. You can come under the top 300 if you score even 50% in the general category.
8. Just try to give your best and then leave it on your luck and accept the results.
