Career Journey from Chemical Engineering to Electronics and Communication

Hey Geek community, i am writing for the very first time on this platform so forgive me for my mistakes and try to find the essence in what I want to deliver. Back in November 2022 I came to my college in the Chemical Engineering Branch. I wasn’t happy with my branch but this was the best i could do at that time and I don’t regret it today(stay tuned for what happened next). Initially everything was a rush. The best part about being here was that we had our classes collectively in first year, irrespective of our branch. In that duration of six months(so called first year), I made few really good friends. Even before coming to college I had decided that i wanted to code and I was sure that there will not be any problem regarding my branch. But as soon as time started flowing I realised that I would not grow in this branch. I just wanted to get out of here. I realised the importance of environment and how it can affect your growth. There existed a branch sliding criteria in our college according to which you can change your branch on the basis of your first year performance. So my first year went in preparing for my academics. I just wanted to get out of my current status.

And after six months guess what?? I changed to Electronics and Communication. I couldn’t thank some of my friends who supported me during this. I am happy that I came out of the place where I sucked. I knew that that place was not for me. I am still in a core branch but I feel like I am finally there where I was supposed to be. I could not emphasise the importance of the role your environment plays in determining your growth. Being surrounded by like-directional people boosts your thinking in magical ways. Rolling back, I started coding in my second year(third semester). The one who codes knows the importance of being consistent in putting his/her effort and time in it. Initially i really struggled to manage my time after my 9-4 classes, but i knew i had no other option. Even after coming from classes the workload was immense- lab work, assignments, etc. and I drained my energy so easily as i was not used to it. I got so little time but i understood the importance to code. I am writing this when I am ending my fourth semester and even now I sometimes find little time in my plate but now I am more adept at my routine and I know how to manage it better(as I have grown from that phase). I realised that even if you are not there where you want to be, you can always work towards improving yourself to get there where you are supposed to be!

I am just a beginner coder today but I can definitely say that i will grow and improve and had grown from what i was yesterday. Just choose your path that you want to go for and follow it blindly. I wanted to do coding, I see myself doing it in the future and I want to explore it whole heartedly. I want to state a very beautiful quote that I had started to believe in – Whether the wind of fortune blows in your favour or not, you still have the power to propel yourself forward with determination and effort.

ALL THE BEST !
