AKGEC Campus Experience

Ajay Kumar Garg Engineering College ( AKGEC ) is a private engineering college located in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh. It is affiliated with Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU) and offers various undergraduate and postgraduate programs in engineering and management.

My experience at the college can be summarized in the following few points:

Disciplined Environment

What amazed me about AKGEC was how much they took discipline seriously at the institution. An attendance policy according to which learners risk fines if they are late, and denial of entry at times, is enforced strictly at the college. This kind of behavior may seem forbidding to others however it teaches most people the need to do things at their best time and as part of their duty.

Syllabus Coverage and Academics

AKGEC brags that it covers the whole syllabus in line with the AKTU curriculum. The teachers there never compromise in making sure that the learners are given holistic education but sometimes too much interest in academia may hinder students’ participation in other extracurricular activities or events.

Both girls and boys have the opportunity to be accommodated in the institution, but stringent steps are taken to secure all of them. There are separate timings for entry and exit of girls and boys, ensuring a secure environment for all hostellers.

Lack of College Fests and Hackathons

There are no large-scale student events at AKGEC like college fests or hackathons. This may disappoint certain learners looking for a more lively college environment, but the institution has a range of cultural and technical societies on its campus that are tasked with arranging coding competitions, smaller events and workshops.

Placement Concerns

Attractive placement statistics of AKGEC are communicated to potential students and outsiders. However, some students think they are being deceived into believing off-campus placements are by the Institution without explicitly saying so. The practice borders on the improvisation of facts and is toxic, especially to those who may want to join the same college.

Overall Experience

My time at AKGEC has been a blend of good and bad. The institution is known for an environment filled with discipline and intense academic activities but falls short when it comes to encouraging students through extra-curricular activities and maintaining a vibrant campus life. This issue regarding placement transparency also raises questions about the credibility of the college. So, before deciding whether or not to choose AKGEC, students should consider these factors deeply.
