VTU Exam Preparation Experience

I completed my bachelor of engineering in the year 2022. I took computer science and engineering as my branch.

I always tell everyone not to mug up, but to try to understand the topic, think visually, and write in the exam.

During my engineering studies, my favorite subject was math. I used to attend problem-solving and programming classes daily with full attention. For the remaining subjects, like theory, I did not attend with the same level of attention.

During exam time, like internal and external exams, I used to identify and focus on important questions from the Model Question Paper. This Model Question Paper contains very important questions, and these questions have a high probability of being repeated in the exam. My intention was not only to study the important questions, but also to score passing and average marks in the exams.

For exams, I used to identify the questions to read and plan my reading time. Within this time period, I had to complete these concepts. Secondly, I used to write the answers in a separate notebook so that I could use these handwritten notes for revision. For some concepts that I did not understand, I used YouTube and Google for easy understanding. I also made a habit of writing in a rough book for practice.

For problematic subjects, I always tried to solve the problems in the rough book, as this is good practice. And lastly, it is very important not to forget to revise the topics you have learned. Revise them multiple times to remember the logics, topics, and ideas.

While writing the exam:

My engineering exam is 3 hours long. There are a total of 5 modules, and each module contains 3 questions. I allotted 35 minutes per module and 11-12 minutes per question at most. I stayed till the end of the exam. If I didn’t know the answer to a question, I kept it for last. If I had time, I wrote something related to that question.

After the exam completion, I did not go for any discussion, as it would be torture if my answer was wrong.

Thank You.
