Rakuten Interview Experience (On-Campus)

It was an online interview:

Round 1 (35 Minutes):

He asked me to introduce myself. Then asked some basics why, from btech CSE to mtech AI. As my department is Robotics and AI, they asked how much of the robotics part, just like Walmart.

He asked about my hobby. I liked football, so I talked about it, and during the FIFA World Cup, I got some extra edge in that, and Japan won on the last day against Spain. XP.

There were no technical questions, just normal discussion. I was trying to bring him continuously from the robotics part to the SDE field, but he was just stuck in robotics throughout the whole interview.-

  • What is AI? How much difference is there after completing btech in CS?
  • He first asked me about one problem with a chatbot. He asked if there is an application for the company’s question-answering system, and if the answering application didn’t respond properly or gave the wrong answer when a customer and client were giving questions, what would be its solution?
  • What is the difference between chatbot and AI? (chatbot is an application/product of AI)
  • What is a robot? Give an example. (told, as an example I gave how a robot helped during COVID or room service robot, but always tried to bring him in technical questions and core CS subjects)
  • What is the future of robots in India?
  • How can we use it in India?
  • Told him some different examples, but he asked how we can use them in agriculture.
  • What is the difference between a machine and a robot?

End of Round 1. I was thinking about what just happened in this interview. No technical questions, just asked this example, that example, and differences. So I left the room blank, but in the meantime, poc called me 3-4 times for the next HR round. My phone was silent, luckily after 10 minutes I saw and joined the line.

Round 2(10 minutes):

  • Why do you want to join the company?
  • How was your last day during placement?

Then she showed me the offer letter and discussed the salary.

Verdict: Selected (By luck).
