PlanSource Interview Experience for Data Engineer

Application Shortlisting

Process: The recruitment team at PlanSource reviews submitted applications to shortlist candidates based on their qualifications, experience, and suitability for the Data Engineer role.

Purpose: To identify candidates who meet the job requirements and demonstrate potential for success in the role.

Technical Interview (First Round – Medium to Hard Difficulty)

Process: Shortlisted candidates undergo the first technical interview with a member of the PlanSource technical team.

Purpose: To assess candidates’ technical skills, problem-solving abilities, and understanding of data engineering concepts.

Sample Questions:

• Discuss the difference between ETL and ELT processes. When would you use each?
• Describe your experience with data modeling and schema design.
• Implement a SQL query to retrieve data from multiple tables and perform aggregation.
• Explain the concept of data warehousing and its role in business intelligence.

Technical Interview (Second Round – Medium to Hard Difficulty)

Process: Candidates who pass the first technical interview proceed to the second technical interview with another member of the PlanSource technical team.

Purpose: To further evaluate candidates’ technical proficiency, problem-solving skills, and ability to work with complex data systems.

Sample Questions:

• Discuss your experience with big data technologies such as Hadoop, Spark, or Kafka.
• Implement a data pipeline using Python or Scala for data ingestion and transformation.
• Solve a problem involving data cleansing and normalization techniques.
• Explain the differences between batch processing and stream processing in the context of data engineering.

HR Round

Process: Candidates who clear the technical interviews proceed to the HR round with a member of the PlanSource human resources team.

Purpose: To assess candidates’ communication skills, cultural fit, and motivation for the Data Engineer role at PlanSource.

Sample Questions:

• Tell us about yourself and your experience with data engineering.
• Why are you interested in joining PlanSource as a Data Engineer?
• How do you handle tight deadlines and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment?
