Osmania University Campus Experience

About:

I’m pursuing Computer Science and Engineering at Osmania University. Our 106-year-old university, along with its campus colleges, spans a vast area of 1600 acres. It boasts numerous seminar halls, labs, auditoriums, a well-equipped gym, a canteen, and a very vast playground among other amenities. The campus is adorned with lush greenery, where egrets are occasionally sighted and melodious birdsong welcomes us to our classes in the morning and it serves as a paradise for nature enthusiasts.

Within the CSE department, we have labs catering to both CSE and AIML branches at the undergraduate level, as well as for ME and MCA students. Each department has its own library, and the main library, named Diamond Jubilee Library, serves students from all branches and features three reading halls. There’s wifi connectivity across the campus.

Curriculum:

Regarding our curriculum, all first-year students undertake the same subjects, with core subjects commencing in the second year. Additionally, we delve into Electronics courses and non-engineering subjects such as Operation Research and Positive Psychology. Our teachers are highly approachable, experienced, and esteemed in academic circles. They frequently emphasize the importance of thorough textbook reading, instilling the habit early on. Maintaining a good GPA is not difficult, provided we regularly manage academics along with other extracurricular activities.

Societies and Clubs:

Our university fosters a vibrant club culture, with numerous technical societies.

One prominent example is the IEEE club, encompassing six chapters: IEEE Computer Society, IEEE Robotics & Automation Society, IEEE Signal Processing Society, IEEE Power & Energy Society, IEEE Engineering in Medicine & Biology Society, and IEEE Women In Engineering. This club actively organizes events, workshops, and contests. Personally, I’ve gained valuable skills like Arduino Programming during my membership in the RAS club.

In addition to IEEE, we have EMCC (Engineer’s Musical and Cultural Club), which hosts monthly concerts and JAM sessions. Other notable clubs include IETE, ED Cell, YOUVA, Xplore OUCE, SAE, Sports Club, and Flimton (photography club). SAE, in particular, stands out for its active participation in various challenges like two-wheeler design competition and drone development and has received numerous accolades. NSS and NCC are present as well.

Technical symposiums are held annually by each department, and our fest, named Infinity, spans two days, featuring a plethora of technical contests and cultural performances. We also host numerous other events.

The students are mainly from the Telugu states but we also find students from other states and countries as well.

Placements:

Numerous prominent recruiters visit our campus, drawn by the rich legacy of the college and the strong alumni network.
