NIT Patna Campus Experience

Hello Everyone, Hope you are doing extremely well. Myself Aman Kumar, a pre-final year B.Tech student of NIT PATNA in the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering(ECE). Today I am going to share with you my experience at my college NIT PATNA which is one of the oldest Engineering colleges in India (established. in 1886) previously known as Bihar College of Engineering.

I am from 2021-25 batch. During JoSSA counselling I have given 1st priority to NIT Patna. The main reason is that this is the nearest NIT to my house(Just about 5 kilometers). My parents advised me to take admission here and also it was my own desire to take admission here. I had given 1st priority to the CSE branch but due to low rank(AIR 22561 and Category rank 5097), I got ECE.

College Environment:-

This college is near Ganga Ghat so one can find a very peaceful and charming environment here. Also, there are many trees on the college campus. You will hear the sounds of birds, especially in the evening when they come back to their nests. The campus of NIT Patna is Smoking and ragging Free and it is safe for both girls and boys. The medical facility in the college is also good.

College Facilities:-

The classrooms in the college are quite good. the most interesting one is the lab. The labs of my department have equipment and you will also find very helpful Lab Assistants for guiding students. The labs of other departments are also very good. Many teachers you find here are young so they are very energetic towards teaching and research. 6 Professors from NIT Patna come in the top 2% of great scientists in the world and 3 are from the ECE department. Professors are very helpful.

Clubs in College:-

There are many Technical and Cultural Clubs in NIT Patna. For tech lovers, there are HackSlash, the IEEE student branch, TESLA, ASME, ASCE, etc.. For literature and music lovers, clubs are Saptak, Expresso, Total Chaos, Natvansh, etc. All clubs are very active and organize events regularly. NIT Patna organizes two major fests. One is Corona and Milange which is called TCF(Technical and Cultural Fest) generally organized in January during College Annual Day for about 5 days which is full of games, events, and lots of Fun. Another is Eccentrica which is competition between all branches. Also, NIT Patna actively organises sports events and a annual sport tournament called Intramurals. Hackathons and Coding quizzes are also organised. Hack-o-fest, the main hackathon of NIT Patna get organised in April month every year. NSS (National Service Scheme) is also active in college. Under NSS, an organization named Sankalp is running by we students which works for free and quality education of needy local children.

Placements :-

If talk about placements, the stats are quite good and satisfactory. Almost all students get placed. The placements in CSE and ECE department in quite good. In mechanical department there is awesome placement. Many students also prepare for GATE and higher studies. Books available in library are boon for them. For Internship few companies also visits for hiring 3rd Year students.

My Experience :-

I go to college by local bus as I have not taken College Facility. Sometimes it becomes difficult for me as the route is full of traffic due to Metro Construction but I enjoy the journey. I was sincere in studies since the first semester. Also I do coding on regular basis. Many time I was unable to take part in college events as those events takes place in Night and I return back to my home early. Still I enjoyed there a lot. In 2023, I took part in TCF and won a gold and a silver medal. Seniors are supportive and they helped me a lot.

One thing is unsatisfactory from this college is that its small campus(Smallest among all NITs). Our new campus is getting ready near IIT Patna and soon NIT Patna will shift there. One can choose NIT Patna for their B.Tech, M.Tech or Ph.D studies as you will get good knowledge and memories here.

1-> Maintain good CGPA from 1st semester.

2-> Be active in clubs and fests.

3-> Be in contact with seniors and few Professors.
