My Career Journey from Fresher to Techie

When I finished my 12th grade, I didn’t have a clear idea of what engineering was all about. It felt like a distant, complex concept reserved for people who had a solid plan for their futures. I was still exploring my options when I came across an advertisement for , college offering courses at an affordable fee. I decided to check it out, and before I knew it, I had enrolled in my first semester. Little did I know that this decision would be the beginning of my journey as a techie.

In my first semester, I was introduced to the Python programming language. As a novice, I approached it with a mix of curiosity and nervousness. For my practical exam, I tackled it in a somewhat unconventional way—I wrote down the code and memorized it. This helped me pass the exam, but it wasn’t the most effective way to truly understand programming.

Just as I was getting comfortable in my new environment, COVID-19 struck, turning everything upside down. Classes moved online, and I found myself with more free time than expected. While aimlessly browsing YouTube one day, I stumbled upon a video about web design. It was like a light bulb moment for me. The visuals, the creativity, and the idea of building something from scratch fascinated me. I spent hours watching tutorials and learning HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. By the end of that period, I had created my portfolio website—my first major project as a techie.

With my newfound passion for coding, I entered my second semester. This time, the challenge was data structures. At first, I felt overwhelmed by terms like stacks, queues, and linked lists. But I kept at it, solving problems and practicing regularly. Eventually, I started to enjoy it. It was like solving a crime case—figuring out how different pieces fit together to create a solution.

One day, I found Beginner for Beginner’ “Problem of the Day,” which quickly became a daily ritual for me. Each day, I would solve the problem, eagerly anticipating the next day’s challenge. It was an excellent way to build consistency and improve my problem-solving skills. The thrill of solving each new problem was addictive, and it motivated me to keep pushing my boundaries.

Looking back, my journey as a techie has been a blend of unexpected discoveries and constant learning. From memorizing code for my first practical exam to building my portfolio website, each step has brought me closer to my goal. The challenges I’ve faced and the skills I’ve acquired have shaped me into the techie I am today. I’m excited to see where this journey takes me next.
