Uttar Pradesh is the largest state in India with a population of 199,812,341 people. UP is also the forth largest state with an area of 240,928 sq. km. The present Uttar Pradesh state was established as a united province in 1937. After 1950, the state got its name as Uttar Pradesh. Govind Ballabh Pant was the first chief minister of Uttar Pradesh. He served as UP CM from 26 Jan 1950 to 20 May 1952. He laid the foundation of modern UP during his tenure.

Yogi Adityanath was born in the Pauri Garhwal district (now in Uttarakhand) in 1972. His original name was Ajay Mohan Bisht. As a student and later, he took an active part in different social and political movements and events. He gave up his family life and became a monk at 22. In 1998, he was elected as a member of parliament.

On March 1, 2023, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath set a record for completing the longest tenure as Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh. Yogi Adityanath completed 5 years and 347 days in office leaving behind Congress’s Dr. Sampurnanand, who was the Chief Minister of the state for 5 years and 345 days from 1954 to 1960.
First Chief Minister of UP
Govind Ballabh Pant was the first CM of UP. He served as Chief Minister of UP from 26 Jan 1950 to 20 May 1952. He was born on 10th September 1887 in Almoda district in a Marathi-origin Karhade Brahmin family.
Pant completed his graduation and post-graduation from Allahabad University. He was a brilliant student and was awarded several prizes. He also served as fourth Home Minister of India. IN 1957, he was awarded with Bharat Ratna.
During his tenure, he done some excellent development work for the foundation of modern UP. He implemented several significant reforms in the state, particularly in the areas of education, agriculture, and irrigation.
