Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh
In Himachal Pradesh chief minister is the main leader in charge. As long as the chief minister supports the assembly, they can stay in power for five years. The governor picks the chief minister who leads the team of ministers. Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu from INC is the present chief minister of Himachal Pradesh. He took the oath as the chief minister of Himachal Pradesh on 11 December 2022.
Himachal Pradesh ranks tenth with a literacy rate of 86 Percent. It is located in the northern part of India. It covers an area of approx 55,673 square kilometres. According to the 2011 census, the total population was 7.2 million. Himachal Pradesh has 68 legislative assembly seats and 4 lok sabha seats.

Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu is the present chief minister of Himachal Pradesh. He was born on 27 March 1964, in Bhavran village Hamirpur district of Himachal Pradesh, after completing his early education. He has a Master of Arts (MA) degree in Political Science from Himachal Pradesh University. He also has a Bachelor of Law (LLB) from the same university. He is a member of the Indian National Congress (INC).
Sukhu began his political career as a student leader. He was elected as the Class Representative (CR) of the Government College, Sanjauli, Shimla, in 1982. He was then elected as the General Secretary of the college in 1983 and as the President in 1984. In 1992, Sukhu was elected to the HPLA for the first time from the Nadaun constituency. He was re-elected in 2007 and 2017. In the 2022 Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly election, the Congress won 40 seats, giving them a clear majority. Sukhu was sworn in as the Chief Minister on December 11, 2022.

Deputy Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh
The designation of deputy chief minister is not specified in the Constitution of India. Deputy chief ministers are the second highest ranking member in the Council of Ministers of Himachal Pradesh state. Previously, Himachal Pradesh did not have the position of deputy chief minister. The office was first established in 2022 under Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu’s leadership.

First Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh
Yashwant Singh Parmar was the first chief minister of Himachal Pradesh. He was born on 4 August 1906 in Chanalag village in the princely state of Sirmaur. His father was a secretary of the ruler of Sirmaur. He received his early education from Nahan High School he did a B.A. (Honours), LL.B and an M.A. in 1926 and PhD on polyandry in 1944. He began his political career as a magistrate of the Sirmaur court from 1930 to 1937 and later served as a session judge from 1937 to 1940. He joined the Indian National Congress and actively participated in the freedom struggle.
After India’s independence in 1947, he played a crucial role in advocating for the formation of a separate state for Himachal Pradesh. He is also known as the Creator of Himachal Pradesh. He has served as chief minister of Himachal Pradesh for two terms.
