Structure of Golgi Apparatus
The Golgi apparatus structure is made of a series of flattened, tube-like membrane-bound sacs that are called the Golgi apparatus cisternae. These cisternae are arranged in a stack-like manner that shows distinct polarity at each end i.e. cis or forming face, and trans or maturing face. The cisternae are associated with Golgi apparatus vesicles that are responsible for transporting the packaged materials from the tubular structures to different regions. The structure of the Golgi Apparatus is dynamic and is regulated and maintained by various proteinaceous cytoskeletons.
