Origin of Groundnut (Arachis hypogaea)
The oldest known groundnut pod dates back to around 7,600 years old. Groundnut originated and is a native of South America in the Eastern region of the Andes which includes Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Peru, Uruguay, etc. The possible birthplace of groundnut as per experts is considered the Paraguay River in the regions of Mato Grosso, Brazil.
