NDA Exam Patter 2024
The NDA exam is conducted to select candidates for admission to the Army, Navy, and Air Force wings of the NDA and Indian Naval Academy Course (INAC). It’s held twice a year and consists of two main parts: a written examination and an SSB interview.
Written Examination Pattern
The written examination consists of two papers:
- Mathematics
- Total Marks: 300
- Duration: 2.5 hours
- Topics Covered: Algebra, Matrices and Determinants, Trigonometry, Analytical Geometry, Differential Calculus, Integral Calculus and Differential Equations, Vector Algebra, Statistics and Probability.
- Nature of Questions: Objective Type
- General Ability Test (GAT)
- Total Marks: 600
- Duration: 2.5 hours
- The GAT is divided into two parts: Part A (English) and Part B (General Knowledge).
- Part A – English: Designed to test the candidate’s understanding of English and workmanlike use of words.
- Part B – General Knowledge: This section covers Physics, Chemistry, General Science, Social Studies, Geography, and Current Events.
- Nature of Questions: Objective Type
SSB Interview
After qualifying the written examination, candidates are called for an SSB (Services Selection Board) interview, which is a comprehensive personality and intelligence assessment spread over 5 days. The SSB interview includes various tasks designed to assess the candidate’s suitability for a career in the armed forces. This includes psychological tests, group tasks, interviews, and outdoor activities.
Total Selection Process
- Total Marks for Selection: The total marks for the selection process are 900 marks for the written exam (300 for Mathematics and 600 for GAT) plus the marks allocated for the SSB interview.
- SSB Interview Marks: The SSB interview is also worth 900 marks, making the total marks considered for final selection 1800.

NDA Exam Pattern 2024
One of the best military education institutions in the world is the National Defence Academy (NDA). The NDA exam is given twice a year by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) to determine which applicant is most suited for admission. This test is normally given in two months: in September (NDA II) and April (NDA I). Only male applicants who fulfill the prerequisites for the twelfth grade are eligible to take this test.
