The northern Indian state of Haryana was split linguistically from Eastern Punjab in 1966 and became its own state. In Haryana, the most common language spoken is Haryanvi. Notably, the state and its adjacent state, Punjab, share the same capital, Chandigarh. In the fourteen years since becoming a state, Haryana has had fourteen Assembly Elections and had 10 Chief Ministers.

List of Chief Ministers of Haryana: Haryana was formed in the year 1966. Since then 10 people have been elected as the Chief Minister of Haryana who have served as the chief minister for various tenures. The Chief Minister of a state is considered the chief executive of the particular state. The Governors of the state appoint Chief Ministers for a 5-year term. The current Chief Minister of Haryana is Manohar Lal Khattar who has been appointed since 2014.
