- Goal Setting: Smart, achievable short and long-term goals related to self-care, work, leisure activities etc. are set in agreement with patients and caregivers. Progress is periodically evaluated.
- Intervention Plans: Custom therapeutic interventions involving task-oriented activities are planned depending on the diagnosis and the special needs of individual patients. Activities are designed to work on impacted skills and functions.
- Therapy Sessions: OTs assist patients in therapeutic sessions with exercises, adaptive devices, and practical training focused on improving communication, social interaction, daily routine tasks, motor skills, sensory processing etc.
- Aid Prescriptions: They may prescribe orthotics, prosthetics, wheelchairs, walkers and other aids if required by a patient for better functioning, accessibility and safer living. Proper usage is taught.
- Home & Workplace Assessments: As needed, home and workplace evaluations are done to identify barriers and suggest modifications to support recovery and engagement of patients in familiar environments.
