P(E) = Number of favorable outcomes / Total number of outcomes
For any two events A and B,
P(A ⋃ B) = P(A) + P(B) – P(A ⋂ B)
If A and B are mutually exclusive (disjoint),
P(A ⋃ B) = P(A) + P(B)
For any two events A and B,
P(A ⋂ B) = P(A) · P(B | A)
If A and B are independent,
P(A ⋂ B) = P(A) · P(B)
P(B | A) = P(A ⋂ B) / P(A)
P(A | B) = [P(B | A) · P(A)] / P(B)
If B1, B2, …, Bn are mutually exclusive and exhaustive events,
P(A) = P(A ⋂ B1) + P(A ⋂ B2) + … + P(A ⋂ Bn)
