Indian Postal Network
India boasts the world’s largest postal network which allow both parcel delivery and personal written communications. Cards and envelopes are considered first-class mail, airlifted between stations via land and air. Second-class mail, like book packets and registered newspapers, is transported by surface mail, covering both land and water transport.
To enhance mail delivery efficiency in large towns and cities, six mail channels have been introduced recently, namely Rajdhani Channel, Metro Channel, Green Channel, Business Channel, Bulk Mail Channel, and Periodical Channel.
Telecommunication Network in India
India possesses one of the largest telecom networks in Asia, with over two-thirds of villages covered by Subscriber Trunk Dialling (STD) telephone facilities. The government aims to extend 24-hour STD facility to every village, ensuring uniform rates and integrating space and communication technology for widespread connectivity.
