Chief Ministers of Haryana
Haryana was a part of the Maratha Empire after the Mughals. Following the 1803 Surji-Anjangaon Treaty, the British Empire acquired Haryana, which subsequently amalgamated with the North West Provinces. Following the uprising in 1857, Punjab Province and Haryana—then known as Delhi Territory—were combined in April 1858.
From 1858 to 1947, while Britain was still a colony, it was governed as an element of the province of Punjab. In 1966, it was given its own administrative state inside India. The combined capital of Haryana and the Punjab is Chandigarh.
Ten chief ministers have served as chief minister of Haryana since 1966, beginning with Bhagwat Dayal Sharma of the INC Party and ending with Manohar Lal Khattar, the BJP Party’s current chief minister, who assumed office in 2014.
With 11 years and 10 months of service, Bhajan Lal Bishnoi is the Chief Minister of Haryana with the longest tenure, followed by Bansi Lal’s 11 years.
The sixth Chief Minister of Haryana, Devi Lal also held the position of Deputy Prime Minister of the nation under Chandra Shekhar and V. P. Singh. Presidents have also ruled over Haryana three times, each for a brief while. The BJP, INC, and Janata Dal have been the main ruling parties.
