List of Districts in Assam 2024
List of Districts in Assam: The Assam state includes 35 administrative units which are headed by a Deputy Commissioner. The borders of these districts are based on geographical characteristics such as hills, rivers, and woods; many of the newly formed districts are subdivisions of the ones that have been around longer. Three new districts—Charaideo, South Salmara-Mankachar, and West Karbi Anglong—were added on August 15, 2015, bringing the total to 27. Subsequently, Majuli was officially established as a district on June 27, 2016, becoming the first river island district in India.
