Jee Exam Experience

Hello everyone!

I’m a second-year student at NIT Delhi, pursuing Mechanical Engineering. I got admission based on my JEE score.

What is JEE?

JEE, or the Joint Entrance Exam, is conducted every year. It is a qualifying exam to get into India’s top institutes like IITs, NITs, GFTIs, etc. To get admission into IITs, one must qualify for the JEE Advanced exam. JEE Advanced is conducted once every year and is the qualifying exam for admission into different IITs. To sit for the JEE Advanced exam, one must qualify for the JEE Mains exam, which is conducted twice a year by the NTA.

Books that I used to prepare.

For my physics preparation, I used both volumes I and II of HC Verma. HC Verma is the best book for the JEE Mains exam. Its theoretical concepts are extensive, and the questions are well-aligned with the JEE pattern. For mathematics, I preferred Cengage books, which are excellent for preparing for both JEE Mains and Advanced. For inorganic chemistry, I used VK Jaiswal, and for physical and organic chemistry, I used books from Balaji Publications. All these books helped me significantly in my JEE preparation.

Types of questions asked in JEE:

In the JEE Mains exam, the difficulty level of the questions ranges from easy to medium. In contrast, the JEE Advanced exam features a significantly higher difficulty level, with questions ranging from medium to hard.

How did I prepare for JEE?

I started preparing for JEE after my intermediate studies. Since I belong to a small town with a lack of availability of coaching institutes, I began preparing in my gap year. I failed JEE on my first attempt due to a lack of preparation and guidance. However, I didn’t lose hope and started preparing again for the whole year. There was no one to guide me, so I studied myself through free online classes with true dedication and solved lots of test papers and modules by attending online lectures.

At last, I qualified for my first step toward my JEE journey, the JEE Mains exam. Although I failed the JEE Advanced exam, I was quite sad at that time. But with my JEE Mains rank, I got admission to NIT Delhi. I was happy because I was the only one in my town to qualify for the JEE exam and get admission into an NIT.

This was my JEE journey. It was quite difficult and challenging for me because there were no coaching institutes or good schools in my town. I cracked it on my own.

Thank you.
